So with that out, I had to get the thinking cap out... Staying in the valley was suggested due to the XXX nature of the place, but it was not the sort of place I wanted to park the truck for the night. I looked up Xerox and was initially going to camp outside their Brisbane office in Westend. Then one night I had a revelation - why not this place!

It defies all my previous logic of a good location – railway line, well lit street, no other vehicles parked and lots of through traffic. To further complicate the issue there was a 24 hr McDonalds and 24 hr service station across the road. I basically had to climb in the tray under the watchful, hopefully distracted, eyes of the XXXX gate guards. During the course of the night there were 31 semi-trailers, like the one above, that rumbled past my bed and shook me awake. Surprisingly I still managed to get a good night’s sleep in. The morning tray exit was a hard one too. Being an industrialised area that starts the day early, I climbed out of the back in full view of a few amused on-lookers.
I hope you at least got to finish off a few of those XXXX's to ensure your good night sleep :) C'mon, you must've got some from the truck?! :)))
ReplyDeleteIt's a disgrace that a Blues supporter spends the night next to the mighty Maroons No 1 Sponsor!! The situation made all the worse as said Blues supporter is contributing no rates, rent or state taxes to the coffers of the state kind enough to give him sanctuary from the Empire of Evil over the border.
ReplyDeleteI intend to open a fund where decent folk can contribute money to pay and have a tow truck drag the Blues supporter and his Blue truck over the border to NSW each and every night he tries to sleep at the expense of Decent, Hard Working, Taxpaying, Rate contributing members Queensland society. Join me fellow Queenslanders!!
Methinks the way you get outta bed and surprise passing locals should be a highlight in your day. Did you suffer stage-fright in the beginning? After a while though, you get a nice little routine down pat: spring out, ignore anyone leaping into the air in fright, make a sweeping bow, strut with panache and style to your drivers door, open it with a flourish, slide gracefully in, turn radio on moderate to loud, crank up the engine and glide majestically off.
ReplyDeleteThe blog has been a testimony to a little aussie battler and we commend you for all your efforts! From one proud New Southwelshmen to another -Well Done sir!!
